Hmmmmm by QAuZ

SO I've been checking my Instagram and then I found a beautiful space thingy pic from a popular account that shows beautiful nature stuff and I started liking the pic too being all amazed by it especially it had the realistic space background as I thought..... by the way it was so complicated that I even thought the stars were real and the object too! SO... later then since I follow similar accounts I saw some of them also posted same pic ( it was all about featuring in Instagram and god knows where else it got featured, not just in Instagram) and giving the credit to the person who made it! So... the thing is I started assuming the background is mine from the stock pack I posted it here for this website! Then I left it for a while until I opened my computer to make sure that the person did actually use my space background and he DID! So ... when I found out I didn't know what to do and the funny fact is that I even don't get near 100 follower when I made my art account on Instagram and dunno why and then it bugs me so much! I even mentioned anyone should give me credit if using my stock pack! And since I was in my personal account I couldn't like leaving a comment mentioning the space background was mine or something cuz of course none will believe me! ANYWAY, I just posted this blog to let you know what happened like could U believe that silly thing??? Also just tell me guys what U think about this?

That really sucks, suggestion what you could do to get likes like that on Instagram would be to post your IG name in your description under all of your artworks on here, along with the names or links to your other social networks.

People steal art all of the time, but as that user said way before me, they might of gotten permission from someone else who stole it from you... So you never know but you got every right to be upset about it...

I would be upset too.  Artists put enough of there heart and soul into there work to begin with.  To have some asshole just copy and paste something like that is wrong.  Stealing someone's work is both ethically and morally wrong.

You said you posted the original picture as a stock picture?  To use as a resource?  If you asked to be credited, you're just asking.  No one has to do it (although I think they should).  That's the risk you take when you post things online.  Also, keep in mind that the artist could have gotten your image from any number of sites, and those sites may not have even mentioned you, or may have even claimed ownership of the image and given permission to use it at will.  So the artist might not know that you are the real creator of the image, that you would like credit, and that the site they got it from is not being truthful about who created it.
What you should do is contact the artist and tell them you are the original creator and would like credit.
If they don't want to do that, they're jerks.  If it still bothers you then you can ask them to remove their image because, according to copyright law it is a "derivative work", something made from yours, and you've asked them nicely to remove it.
If they still don't remove it, contact deviantArt and tell them that you are the original artist and, under the terms stated, (give me credit if you use my work) you did not give permission for this image to be posted.
Finally, you can use Google Image Search and drag your image into their search box.  It will try to find every site where the image is posted.  You might find other sites that have it and are claiming it's theirs.

There are a few people who ask to repost my work.  If the image is not in a pay-to-see-it gallery (some of them are) I usually say it's ok, but I ask that they state somewhere something like, "Original image by ManOfSteel*.  Used with permission", and maybe a link to here or some other site where the viewer can contact me if they want.  By stating that the image is used with permission, I hope it lets people know that the person had enough class to ask for permission first, that I said it was ok, that I obviously let people put my artwork on their websites sometimes, and that I know the image is there.

You know, all people have to do is say, "I really like this image you made.  Would it be ok if I used it as a background in one of mine?  I could put a note in the description saying I have your permission and even put a link back to you so people can see your other awesome stuff."  In all the times I've been asked, I've only said "No" once, because the image was in a pay gallery and I'd promised not to show it anywhere else.  My response is  usually, "Yes.  Thanks for asking first.  I'm really glad you like it.  I'd love  to see it on your website.  In fact, do you want me to send you a better copy of the image?"

*ManOfSteel is my regular artist name elsewhere.

It's very frustrating when things like this happen especially since we put so much care and effort into what we create. There's an account on tumblr that takes nebula artworks, edits them, and posts them as their own. It happened to me with A Stellar Dream.

You can try to report the picture. Something similar happened to me (more than once), I've reported the picture providing the link to the original source (mine) and a couple of days later the picture was removed by Instagram. But things like that happen all the time. And considering the fact that is a popular picture now is probably posted already in dozens of accounts and blogs everywhere..

Sure, it's still your picture, so the report is valid. But like I said, it might not change much, that picture is probably posted all over the Internet by now.. :/

Crazy shit? Jap, it's something like that. You write: "silly thing", but it look like: "bloody hell, what's wrong with people?"
